Elreacy Dock is a distinguished thanatologist, death educator, and certified grief educator with a profound commitment to understanding and teaching the complexities of grief, loss, and the human experience surrounding death.
Currently, Elreacy serves as the Chair of the Thanatology department at Capstone University, where she developed a comprehensive graduate-level thanatology program. This innovative program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the multifaceted aspects of death and dying, emphasizing the importance of compassionate care and support for individuals who are grieving. She also has contributed her subject matter expertise as a writer for SevenPonds, an online resource for all topics about end-of-life concerns.
Elreacy received specialized training and certification in grief education from renowned grief expert David Kessler. This rigorous training provided Elreacy with a deep understanding of grief, as well as the tools and methodology necessary to support individuals and families as they navigate their respective losses.
In addition to her teaching and consulting work, Elreacy is a published author in the behavioral health space. She co-authored the book Integrated Healthcare: Applications for Social Work with her mentor and colleagues at ASU. This book was published in Vietnamese and is actively used in integrated health training. Elreacy’s work in behavioral health focuses largely on quality improvement, increasing access to care, financial analyses, and introducing integrated care practices abroad to improve patient health outcomes.
